Willy Northpole - The Connect

I found this record at the Library and well.....  I should have left it there.

William Adam's or Willy Northpole as his fans would call him put his first record "The Connect" in 2009, two days after the death of the King of Pop died.  So record sales on this one went nowhere, but I am guessing that people would have been returning this super weak freshman release even if MJ was still around....

LET'S GET INTO IT:

The very start of the record makes me think "Jay-Z wannabe, then he starts rapping and I know he has no chance ever.  The entire record is about how his life has been a struggle, how he lost connections with 50 Cent because his friend told him that he was selling dope out of his house and I really doubt the whole 50 Cent connection's thing since 50 Cent rolls with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Lloyd Banks, Ect. you would think that they would see that this guy is learning his rhymes from a "Rhyming For Dummies" book.  He also talks about how he is lyrically strong enough that he could take on anyone and smash them,  I beg to differ.  His abilities are really just terrible and I don't know about you but I love records that latest once or twice make you rewind 30 seconds or so go back on the track because you think you just heard something that was just nuts and you have to hear it again to make sure you heard it right.

That does not happen once on this record..

Some of his lines such as in the song "Hood Sh**"  "I'ma car jacka, and that car is sweet, I drive off with the baby in the car seat."  Is this guy for real, I mean I know you have to make a image about yourself, especially on your first record but what the hell is this dude thinking?

Another thing is that this is the only rapper I have ever heard enunciate his words properly in his raps.

Moving on....

There are two songs that I didn't lose interest in 30 seconds into because well the music was, well really good.  "#1 Side Chick" and "Hood Dreamer" are the two most well put together songs on the record for many reasons.  First reason, the beats were not bad, not that awesome, but much better then the rest of the album and second the back up vocals are awesome, I don't know who the singers are in the chorus are but they are the only thing I was really impressed by.

Summation: 1/5 because there were two songs out of 15 songs. Oh yeah and I think I could have done a better job.
