Tuesdays Tunes

I am a huge fan of music and the Gorillaz are one of the bands I have kinda skipped over because I was bombarded by the same two songs (Feel Good Inc, Clint Eastwood) every time I turned on the radio.  I have come to see myself overlook so many really good bands time and time again because I can't get the taste of the two songs the radio continuously play on the radio.  But I don't listen to the radio that much anymore thanks to my iPod.

I will now stop my bitching and review Plastic Beach the third studio record by The Gorillaz

I really enjoyed this album for alot of reasons but the biggest reason is because The Gorillaz have changed there sound from each release and it has done them well.  Not many bands can do that and keep there fan base happy, but I don't think they will lose anyone but gain some on the album.

I don't know how to label The Gorillaz as a whole because they have so many unique sounds and textures in there music that you really can't call them one genre.  The record has a slue of appearances by other artist that keep the record different track by track.  Thru out the album there are tons of synthesizers and voice echos that will keep you guessing what will be next and it just keeps getting better and better each track you listen to.  I would have to say that my favorite track is the 80's style "Empire Antz Ft. Little Dragon" because this track really made me think that I was on a beach, not really plastic, but surrounded by white hot sand and people enjoying themeless in the sun.  The other track that I really enjoyed was "Glitter Freeze Ft. Mark E. Smith".  It's not a instrumental but its very close to it and thats why I enjoyed it so much because so much of music nowadays it all lyrical bound, not musical, but I love to hear stuff that has been ut together by a band that has to move you with just the music, like "Sessions" by Linkin Park, every person in the band put something into it and it was just a hip hop beat when it started then became something so much more. That is still my favorite track off of "Meteora" .  I am not saying every time, but more time then not I can pick out what band/group writes there music and lyrics.

Summation: 4/5 stars because The Gorillaz have not given into changing there style to sell records they keep changing there style. to sell records

Next week I will be reviewing Sixteen Horsepower's "Folklore" since that suppose to be reviewed today..
