The makers of the awesome documentary "The Cove" have struck once again.. On Feb.28th the a week prior the Oscars, the film makers with hidden cameras and mics walked into the Santa Monica sushi restaurant Hump and ordered Omakase which is a meal that the chef picks all the dishes for you to eat. When the food was served the waitress ambiguously describes it as "Whale". Keep reading, it gets better. After the waitress walks away they bust out there ziplock bags, pay there bills and run the samples off to get them tested. The samples were sent to Marine Mammal Institute on Oregon to confirm that it was indeed whale meat, but the whale that was killed was not just a normal Humpback Whale, oh no, it came from was the Sei Whale, which is on the endangered species list. wow...
The owners are facing one year in prison and 200,000 in fines.
Next time you go eat sushi or any place to eat make sure its not named after a type of whale...
