Don't Forget Who You Are....

As I woke up at 3:30 a.m. this morning I never thought that I would not be exhausted right now, but something has just been weighing on me since I walked out of my 10 hour shift at Smith's. Me, Nicholas Hemingway has been blessed to have a wonderful Wife and two amazing kids that keep me smiling even on the hardest days.. I sat on a bench outside of Smith's awaiting my wife and a homeless man walked out with a bag that had a pint of milk and a bag of cookies and started walking my way to join me on the bench. As I sat there with my ipod, my watch, my pants, my hoodie, my shoes and my job, this man, before partaking in the meal he had just bought... He offered some to me... With the wind knocked out of me and trying to keep my composure I said "No, but thank you" We sat in silence for the remainder of the time till my wife had arrived. I tuned to him and with nothing to hold me up but the bones that I was born with I said to him "You must be sent from God to show me what I have been taking for granted .." He smiled and just looked at me. We all get lost in our day to day routine but it takes something so simple as offering a hand to someone who needs it or just doing that good deed for that person that you don't like to make there day better. You never know, your day might get a little bit better too..

It's so weird because right before I went to check out your blog (willingly, not because of the threats you have posted on my FB wall...) I had went to donate some $$$ to the Red Cross Relief for Haiti.

Anywho, everybody in the world could stand a moment to think about the things they take for granted. We all know we do. The real question, is what are we doing to change that to make us better as individuals (Yes, myself included, of course). Even until moments like this one you experienced, it's hard for us to step outside of ourselves and see what is actually going on.

Just a few thoughts...(Lovin' the blog already buddy!)
